An update on new things from both boys. First for Erik:
We were reading the chemistry textbook, and it was about acids and bases. It was teaching how an acid has an H group, and a base has an OH group. He looked at the drawing and said: "Oh, if the H went and joined the OH, it would be water!"
This is from Carl, so hopefully I relay it correctly. They were reading a Bible story, and Carl was explaining it as "we love Jesus". Erik interrupted and said "but I love God!" Carl responded "oh, Jesus is God," and Erik replied with this: "Oh, that's right. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Three in one."
We really have no idea where he learned that.
The other evening he looked at the clock on the stove and said "Oh, it's 5 o'clock. That also means it is 17 o'clock." He learned that from Gramma and Grampa's house, and their travel clocks in the bathroom, which toggle to military time with the push of a button.
We also started learning about division in his math, and he really gets it. Looking at a group of 10 objects, I asked "There are two plates. How many would go on each plate?" He looked at it, and then looked up at me and grinned. " Five!"
And now for Anders:
He is now 22 months, and he is growing by leaps and bounds. Anders is now singing the alphabet, and knows most of the letters by sight (out of order), too. He is also rote counting to 10, and can count objects at least up to 5. He knows his shapes and colors. He's building with Duplo blocks.
Erik learned the alphabet all at once at 21 months. I have always kind of figured Anders was "behind" that--still smart, of course, but not quite as intense about it. However, he is only one month older than that!
He loves reading books, and playing anything that Erik likes playing. When Erik plays blocks, he wants to play alone, but Anders won't let him. He's going to be so good for Erik's social development!
And of course, he still loves dinosaurs and the Wiggles.
