Carl took Erik and Anders out in the morning. After Carl’s normal Monday morning stop for coffee, where they visited with “Mike the artist”, they went to a local cemetery to remember those who have given their lives for our country. Each boy got an American Flag on a stick. Later on, Anders referred to it as the flag he got “where all the people were dead”, and played some pretend games about dead people in boxes. Erik seemed to “get it” a little more than that. Regardless, it’s important to us that it’s not just a vacation day.
After they got home and the babies were fed, we went out to a local park for a fun family picnic. Since it was Monday, it was eat-out day for our family, so we stopped by La Salsa to get lunch to go, and also got a special treat of Jamba Juice. We enjoyed our lunch, and then spent the rest of the afternoon playing in the park.
