O Christmas Tree

O Christmas tree
O Christmas tree
So seldom we have had you.

Yes, it's true. Carl and I got a Christmas tree the first two years we were married, living in Indiana. The third year of our marriage we were living in Berkeley with his parents, and there was a tree there. But we have not had a tree since. The year after, we had a newborn and were traveling over Christmas anyway. And then... it just got to be a pattern. Young kids, who didn't really care, and weren't quite old enough to get the tradition. And a dose of "do we really want to put in that much effort?"

But, never fear! This year, the child (the 4 year old one) asked for a Christmas tree, so we persevered past our reluctance (hey, we still have a toddler in the house!) and got a tree.

Looking for just the right tree (we limited ourselves to looking at about 20 trees total--no need for obsession when the kids didn't care!)

The one! (and price factored heavily into the tree that Carl and I sold on the boys. ;)

On the car! (Carl has a candy cane, moments before rejected by the boys, in his mouth)

Getting ready to decorate the tree (with a side of CeeCee in her new boots--they were waiting when we got home, so I couldn't resist putting them on her. Thanks, Grandma!)

No, CeeCee is not putting on an ornament. She was really good at taking them off as fast as the boys put them on, though!

My favorite childhood ornament. I mostly loved it because of the springy cord. Of course, I told Anders that, and the cord did not stand up to his exuberance. The elastic snapped.
