February 13th--Dinner and Spelling

Tonight for dinner we had one of the boys' favorites--AlphaTots, which are french fries in the shapes of letters. We give the letters to Anders and ask him to identify them and tell us the sound each letter makes.

Erik's task is a little more challenging. I have fun trying to come up with a word from the various letters, and then I give them to him all scrambled up. Before he can eat them, he has to figure out what the word is. He can do 3 and 4 letter words with no help, sometimes asks for the first letter on 5 letter words, and longer than that may need a few hints. But in general, it's hard to stump him.

Here's a picture of his first two words on the 13th. The first he needed a first-letter hint, and a yes/no for one "is this letter right?" question. The second he did on his own.
